It’s not always easy to find your way around, so here are our top 7 restaurants in Bordeaux to have dinner, where we like to go, as a couple, with family or friends.
Casa Gaïa - 16 bis rue Latour
Located in a small street perpendicular to the quays, Casa Gaïa is a restaurant that offers modern cuisine, mainly made from seasonal, organic and local products. As well as being delicious, it’s a restaurant with a sustainable approach, which is something we particularly like at Vert Bordeaux. Several vegetarian options are available, which is not the case for all restaurants.
We also appreciate the decoration, warm, colourful and elegant, and the small courtyard at the back of the restaurant.
Symbiose - 4 quai des Chartrons
A stone’s throw from Casa Gaïa, this time on the quayside, Symbiose is both a cocktail bar and a restaurant. Here too, many products are fresh and in season. The restaurant has a vegetable garden 50 km from Bordeaux where some of the produce comes from.
Modern French cuisine, it’s the ideal place for a dinner for two. And there’s a terrace in summer on the street side!
But if you’re more of a cocktail person, then feel free to walk through the restaurant and into the back room to sip an aperitif while sharing a plate.
Petits Mets Costauds - 9 place du Maucaillou
Between the Saint-Michel basilica and the Capucins market, we advise you to stop at this small restaurant named Petits Mets Costauds. With a small terrace outside and a few tables inside, you’ll quickly feel at ease here. A simple decoration, a sophisticated cuisine mixing plates to share and individual dishes, a beautiful wine list, what more could you ask for? Special mention for the croquettas which are excellent!
And if after your meal you want to hang around, it’s a great place to spend some time with a couple of friends.
Nomad - 43 rue Sainte-Colombe
As its name suggests, Nomad is an invitation to travel. But not just anywhere: the Mediterranean. Italy, Greece, the Middle East, the cuisine of this restaurant takes the best of the Mediterranean basin to create a modern cuisine that is very, very gourmet and that does not forget vegetarians, as several dishes can be ordered in a veggie version.
From the summer terrace in the charming rue Sainte-Colombe to the high table at the back of the restaurant, no matter where you eat, you won’t leave hungry, but you’ll definitely want to come back.
Dis Leur - 45 rue du Loup
Whether you are vegan or just curious, we strongly recommend you to push the door of this small vegan restaurant : Dis Leur. Here everything is without animal products, and yet there are some classic dishes: onion soup with vegan cheese on top, fish & chips made from seitan (wheat protein), vegan cheese platter… And to go with all that, a list of organic beers and wines.

Demeter - 9 rue Ausone
A fine address located near Bordeaux’s magnificent Porte Cailhau. Demeter may be the Greek goddess of agriculture, but it’s also an affordable gourmet restaurant offering modern, spicy cuisine with a variety of influences (France, Italy, Korea…). The menu changes regularly according to seasonal produce. Ideal for a dinner for two, in an intimate atmosphere and without spending a fortune.

Monkey Mood - 11 rue Camille Sauvageau
Tired of French cuisine? It happens, we don’t blame you. Why not take the opposite approach and go to an Indonesian-inspired restaurant? That’s what Monkey Mood, a small restaurant in Saint-Michel, has to offer. The dishes are delicious, delicately spiced and gourmet. And you’ll be surprised to note that all the dishes are vegan, making it a very inclusive address. And if you ever want to come on a Sunday, you’ll love the brunch, a far cry from the traditional brunches you’ve already tried 100 times.
